i ♥ you.

My little sister, Katelyn, took the picture below on Memorial Day, and I just had to post it. Tanner is sporting lickerlips. No, I didn't misspell that, it's a word. At least in our family.

It's in Tanner's genes to lick his lips. His mommy did it as well as all of his aunts and uncles on the Crandall side. We licked our lips till they bled, growing up. I don't know if it's because we rarely used chapstick, we were always in the 'elements' having adventures outside, or because we just liked the taste of sweat on our upper lips...I can't tell you, because I don't do it anymore. I disliked lickerlips. They hurt. Especially when Grandma Crandall would lovingly hold us down and smother our faces with baby lotion...exactly what I do to my kids.

i ♥ u, Tanner. You are so silly. In many ways you remind me of myself, yet I'm sure some of your antics come from your father's side. You're the most rambunctious, yet most forgiving little boy a mama could ever ask for. i ♥ your lickerlips. i ♥ your smile. i ♥ your hugs. i ♥ you.

Tyler gets the "lickerlips" sometimes too. But I know why he gets his. He is a mouth breather! Which means he breathes more through his mouth than his nose, making his lips dryer, which is why he licks his lips more. I have to remind him to breathe through his nose often. It's annoying, but I still love him.

Haha. Too cute. Anna licks her lips and picks at them till they bleed all the time. I am always pulling her hands away from her face and telling her to stop. So you are saying I can blame the Crandall gene for this one?! ;)

That is adorable. Deanna, I thought of you this morning as I went running and realized that my own "blubber" bounces a bit while I jog along.....then I biffed it on the sidewalk on a busy street and tore a hole in the knee of my favorite scrubs (shoulda worn shorts despite my hairy legs)... I hope that, even if you hate running, you can at least manage to stay on your feet....

Is that what they're called? Lickerlips! :-) My sweet girl used to have lickerlips too. I miss those days.

Love how you've captured your little one. You have an amazing talent for capturing the moments of your life.

I have a better thing than baby lotion . . . Bag Balm!!! I swear by it . . . you should try it. Its a miracle worker!

I would totally use bagbalm on his lips, but i put it on their behinds! :) No cross-contamination. :)

And Rach - I'm STILL laughing at your comment. Reminds me of whe I first met ryan and wanted to loose some weight so I thought I'd go running...threw on some shorts and a tank and was running the hill by nauvoo house in rexburg and tripped...it was ugly...I walked back to my apartment crying because I had skinned the entire side of my thigh...I guess that's what i get for wearing short shorts! :)
