I was running errands this morning after I cleaned my house (SCORE!) and found some GREAT backdrops for this year's picture(s).
Amongst a slew of dilapidated doors and walls, I found a fabulous red, yellow and chrome backdrop at Red Robbin's (the 'gourmet burger' joint), along with green and stonework wall at a local credit union.
So my question is, how tacky would it be to set up a photo shoot on a MAIN ROAD to do pictures against some of these fun backdrops? Last year's pictures were in an alley...
Where do some of you get your pictures taken? Or for you photographers, where do you take your clients? I would love some suggestions for locations the Idaho Falls or Utah County area.
I personally prefer architectural backdrops (doors and walls), while Ryan likes landscapes (plants and trees). We are willing to do both.
(Keep in mind, we're cheap...and we're doing them ourselves, complete with tri-pod and 60 foot camera cord/timer/button contraption...unless Stevie want's to volunteer her services and utilize her shiny new camera.)
A sampling of last years...

I think all of the pictures you post and take are so adorable. I love the pictures by walls and doors. There is something about the rustic look and little kids that is just so cute! I am sure your family will look great no matter what.
I think they're fabulous ideas and No it's not tacky at all. Who cares what others think if that's what you are worried about :)
Um, YES. And I'll even do it at Red Robin if that's where you want it.
Let me tell you that I look forward to your blog because of your creativity with your pictures. I LOVE what you can do! I wish I was that good. And for tackiness? WHO CARES? Just do what you want to do, wherever you find your creativeness will work best. Unless it's something or somewhere that is illegal. If people have a problem with you taking pictures roadside, it's their own thing. Just keep up the great work!
