I have worried endlessly about Tanner on many different levels, during many phases of his development mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Last week at Joy School, I asked each child (there's 5 in our group, including Tanner) to make the first letter of their name with play dough. After about five minutes of helping each child as best I could with a baby on my hip (I had two extra children and Taylor to boot!) I turned around to a very special sight. To my surprise and utter amazement, Tanner spelled out his WHOLE name!!! I asked him what his 'creation' was, and these are his exact words:
"Mom. I can spell my name with play dough, but I can't write it with a pencil. That girl showed me how!"
He's referring to the babysitter I got for the boys last week, but still, VERY impressive in my book!!! (I think I need to take her a big plate of cookies.)
Tonight I asked him to spell his name with play dough so I could take a picture, and he was happy to oblige!
This is one proud little boy. We have been working on letters for a good year...and up until about two weeks ago, he was not showing any interest. Obviously we have a little bit of work that needs to take place so his letters are going the right way, but I'm excited that he has the right idea!
Within the last five days, he has thrived on drawing letters and writing notes to me. Some letters just look like squiggles, but some are recognizable.
Because Gramma and Grampa Poulsen left for St. George while he was at Joy School today, Tanner had a meltdown on three different occasions. I have promised him each time that we can and will write a letter to Gramma and Grampa tomorrow...he is beyond excited!
My baby is growing up!

It's true we do need to live closer to each other. I realized after you left that I never had you give me my tutorial on making those cute "profile pictures" you did of your boys!! So I will probably be calling you!!
It's so funny how one day it just clicks...and it always seems to happen for someone else :)
It's always so great when it finally clicks and they get what you've been trying to teach them!
Way to go Tanner! That is the cutest name in play-doh I've ever seen!!! :)
Isn't it crazy how you can try to teach them something forever and then some one new comes along and they just get it? So neat that he can do his whole name! And I love his proud grin.
Also Kortlen is the cutest little man ever!!! I love his chunkyness and his reddish hair . . .at least it looks reddish in that 4 month pic.
COmpletely loved the black and white pics of your boys in the snow!! It is so wonderful that they do keep us going . . . literally all the time! But that last one of Kortlen was so cute I giggled and wanted to kiss his cheeks!
And girl you are so craftastic!!! I so wish that you lived near me so that you could teach me to be so . . . or just make me cute things that I would pay you for! It makes me wish that I had taken the time to play with you when we actually lived near each other!
