We don't bite!!!

For the longest time, Tanner bit...everyone and everything. It was just a phase, and he did get over it, we thought...

Tanner bit a light bulb tonight on a strand of Christmas lights. Plugged in. Yup. I know. We're effective parents.

Here's how it all went down:

Tanner refused to nap today, so when I got home from work, Ryan took off to get dinner on his way to class. I thought, "Humm. We could play with a strand of lights...it might be kindof fun!" After all, Ryan left with Christmas music playing. Wonderful!

So we got out the NEW strand of lights (no worries Stevie, no shorts this year!) and taped them up in our front window. The boys loved it! I thought I'd spice it up and put in the blinkers, so they'd blink, and that was fun, too!

However, the REAL fun started when the top section tape gave way. Tanner's immediate words were, and I quote, "Oh, Hell!!" and a disgruntled little boy went over to the window and tried to put them back up. I have NO idea where he got that phrase. Not from his daddy, anyhow. Did I mention that we're effective parents?

So I chuckled to myself, started getting a bar of soap for his mouth, then got sidetracked getting the camera...they were playing so cute!!! Taylor giggled everytime the lights wiggled.

So I snapped a picture to blog:

And while editing it to post on our blog (it was really blury, still is, need help from Stevie!) I heard something like a little boy kicking the wall, a pop, and suddenly Tanner is across the room, SCREAMING!

What the!

Come to find out, he had black (GREEN) specks all over in his mouth, and teaching an almost-3-year-old how to swish while he's screaming bloody murder is not the easiest task.

And as I write this, he's spreading butt paste (Desatin) all over his bed sheets. Obviously he got over that fast!

Another no brainer in the Poulsen Household, "We Don't Bite!"
What a day. What a glorious day! I am SO grateful for my children...they are so wonderful to come home to, and I love them to pieces...even when I think I might 'bench' them for the duration of their life!
Aren't we blessed to have people to love, and people to love us. No Matter What!
I am off to rethink my vocabulary. Toodles!

I made it! I survived! I'm alive, and oh, so happy!

Hooray! One more down and ____ to go! Today our ward had our Primary Program...so following tradition, this afternoon, I will start looking for Christmas Music and whatnot for us to sing until January!

The children all did such a great job, and I am so proud of them! I was a little worried a few weeks ago, and my poor & frustrated attitude showed through, immensely. I have some shaping up to do myself, and always look forward to the next 'big thing'. I love my calling as the chorister, and really love the children. They teach me so much!

Because of our LARGE sunbeam class (10+) we had them sitting on the little chairs, on the floor, and when we sang, they'd stand on their chair to be seen. Tanner SO wanted to be a sunbeam today. However, in just six weeks, he will be!!! WOW! I can't believe my little boy will be in primary!

Atta Boy!

So - Ryan and I are pretty much finished with our Christmas Shopping, which could prove to be dangerous, since we've spent our Christmas budget, and still have a month of 'wandering' stores before Christmas...Anyhoo, I HAD to share this...

As I was folding my laundry this morning (an as of 10:00 pm, it's still not done...ADD?) Tanner came into our room to see what I was doing. Mind you, we had purchased "the boys'" Christmas present last night, and they were with us. We decided it didn't matter, since they're so small, but apparently, this 'present' has made an impact on Tanner...I caught him doing this...

It entertained him for a good 15 minutes, studying the diagram on the back of the box, oohing and aahing...

Just sneeking a peek, like his mommy and daddy did with their Christmas presents over 20 years ago! We only have so much room to store things in our apartment...I'm considering taking it all to Grandma's house...because this isn't going to work! And when I say All, it's really not that much, it only takes up a few diaper boxes in our closet, but Ryan and I are really bad about closing our closet doors - they're a pain to open, and close, so everything is "exposed"...gotta work on that! And as you can see, this box didn't even MAKE it to the closet. I caught Tanner dragging the box to the living room at least three times this morning... He.He.He!

My Little Sister

...is my HERO.

She is patient, kind, loving, forgiving, honest, everything virtuous, lovely and of good report, tolerant, talented, and ever so creative! (She is so much more, too...) I love her so much! Just to show you how awesome she is: While studying today, she needed a break, checked my blog, saw these pictures, and put them together...so now I don't have to! Thank You, Stephanie!!! You Rock! If I were rolling in dough, I'd get you photoshop so you could play with it...it's such a fun program!!! But, you're like me, you got creative, and did this in Word...You are SO awesome!

Randomness

Just uploading some pictures from my camera...thought I'd post a few...

Taylor is so stinkin' excited to be a pumpkin! Actually, I think this is the only time he smiled! The costume I made for Tanner, at this same age, two years ago! I absolutely love the hat!!! Our friends' little girl is in the background...she's a parrot...as was her sister...their parents were pirates.

This child is anything but slow. He needed no training for Halloween festivities. After every few cars, Ryan would dump his bucket into my brother's and sister's bags so he wouldn't eat it all!

For as long as I can remember, my brothers were always cowboys and us girls were always witches for Halloween (with the exception of the mouse costume Tanner is wearing, my mom made that for one of us when we were two or three.) Because Katelyn's State Volleyball Tournament fell on Halloween, my youngest brother, Clay, and sister, Deseret, came and spent the weekend with us. We had a blast! They could have cared less about the straw maze we went to (again) but really enjoyed playing on the wii. I'm such a cool big sister! :)

Feeling like a lame-o mom and housewife, I thought I could make it up to my family by making homemade bread and cinnamon rolls...I think we've eaten processed food more now than ever...our systems needed a break from all the MSG and Saturated fat, so...

They look good, alright, but when I cut into the bread, there was a huge air bubble in the bottom of one...and the cinnamon rolls ended up sweating on the bottom, so they were soggy. {sigh} Oh well, I tried!
If they're warmed up in the microwave with a slab of butter on top of all the frosting, they taste real yummy-like - and you wouldn't even know they're soggy because of all the goopy cream cheese frosting under that melted butter. Yumm-o! The MSG and Saturated fat in these yummy treats taste especially good! :) He.He. He!

We Believe...

THE ARTICLES OF FAITH OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS

with emphasis

History of the Church, Vol. 4, pp. 535—541

Joseph Smith

  1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
  2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
  3. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
  4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
  5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
  6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
  7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
  8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated ccorrectly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
  9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
  10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
  11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
  12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
  13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
