THE ARTICLES OF FAITH OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
with emphasis
History of the Church, Vol. 4, pp. 535—541
Joseph Smith
- We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
- We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
- We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
- We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
- We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
- We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
- We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
- We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated ccorrectly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
- We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
- We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
- We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
- We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
- We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

That 12th Article of Faith has been running through my mind all day. I honestly shed tears as the results were announced this evening. Not that the outcome is unexpected. I think mostly because I don't feel that Obama really loves our country. I don't think he believes in the goodness and hard work of the American people. It's been an interesting day.
Thank you so much! I haven't thought about these in a while... And it's good to refresh my memory.Dito to what Rachel said...
I whole heartedly agree with you both. I thought of posting just the 12th, but realized, it's all of these, and so much more. I fear for our families and the world our children live even more now that I did before. I nearly cried myself to sleep last night. At the same time, I was speechless.
My comment is a direct copy of Monday's post....*sigh*
Never before have I been made to stand up for what I believe in as much as I have during this election. Between the Proposition 8 in California (my sister is out there) and our Presidential election - I feel such a need to stand firmer and firmer in the faith!
As I read through the different comments here on this post, I feel overwhelmed with the thought that the Lord can even bless us through our trials. How many people do you think are out there that are feeling the same as your commenter "the dallimore fam" said, "I feel such a need to stand firmer and firmer in the faith." What a blessing for us, and a tribute to our Heavenly Father. He needs us to stand strong. He will give us experiences that will help us rise to those heights. I love the blogging world and the opportunity that it gives me to see things from another's perspective!
Okay, now as to the REASON that I came back to leave you another comment! :) I was looking at your page and listening to the music you have on here and was wondering if you have some really good instrumental CDs that I could borrow. I don't have any and I think that I'd like to have more playing in my home throughout the day. But I can never justify spending the money on untried music. The songs "The Promise" and "Reflection" I particularly liked.
