Just to let all of you who are following my daily struggles know, Tanner has not been driven to sleep at night for the last six days! I am totally stoked. We're still working on naps. (I conviently run errands right before nap-time so he'll fall asleep on the way home.) However, I want you all to know that it takes just as long to drive him asleep at night (1 hour) as it does to do it the old-fashioned way (really, the best way). We've used our car as a crutch for too long, and this week, I'm re-commiting to do naps the good way, too.The book, Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Marc Weissbluth has been most helpful in understanding sleep in children...I'm not even half-way through, but love every word he's said, so far. It's an amazing book! I recommend it to EVERYONE!

Deanna, I'm SO glad that you like the book and it's been helpful! When we were having a hard time with Hazel it was really enlightening! I hope that all continues to go well. Retraining your kids really isn't as hard as you think it will be - or even as hard as it feels at the time. Kids adapt so quickly. In the end, once all is said and, well, screamed and kicked and bawled, :) you'll look back and realize it really wasn't that bad and didn't last that long! Good luck with naps. Oh - and by the way - you don't need to worry about posting less. If people don't want to read it, they don't, but personally my blog is such a great way for me to think and put my thought down. Kind of like meditating - or maybe having a friend to vent to. --- How sad, I'm admitting that the computer is my friend! :)
yeah! i am so happy that the book is helping. i always am scared to give any advice, and when i do, i worry that it's not good advice! keep up with the good work! naps are still a challenge for me. (so far i have put parker back in his room 3 times...and counting! and i'm praying he doesn't wake up preston!)why don't they realize how NICE it is to sleep, and not to fight it! shoot, i wish i could have a nap everyday and go to bed at 8pm!:)
maybe I'll have to get my hands on a copy. It took James FOREVER to go to sleep the past few nights.
