I really enjoyed reading the first book of Stephanie Meyer - Twilight - and though I didn't enjoy New Moon and Eclipse as much, I couldn't put either of them down either!
Breaking Dawn definately gave me some 'closure' to Bella, Edward and Jacob, and I'll admit, I'm satisified with the way it ended...however, I'm a little disapointed - I expected it to be a bit more clean - not so much intimacy - but then it's a love story....I guess I thought SM would consider her primary audience of teens and think through what she was doing to them - but then again, it was probably cleaner than 90% of the stuff they see in the media and in their own high schools....just some food for thought. I'm not trying to pick any bones, or dig up any arguments, but those are my thoughts...maybe not well thought out, but there.
In my comments I have some questions, and if you haven't read the book, don't look at the comments!!! I just thought it would be fun to 'discuss' the book. :)
6 comments:
1. What did you think of their wedding?
2. Did you expect the pregnancy thing? Looking back, I guess it was obvious...the title of that chapter was UNEXPECTED! but I was caught off guard.
3. How did you feel about Rosalie...I was totally irritated by that girl!!! However, I am glad they were able to 'save' the baby.
4. And "Renessmee"? EWE! I really had a hard time with the name - but then, what were they supposed to name her? Something ordinary like Mary or Holly? (No offense meant by those names :) )
5. I about flipped out when I realized that Jacob imprinted on Nessie - SO WRONG! I was hoping for him to imprint on Leah or that nice girl he met in the park...but I guess he had to to protect her in the end - it wouldn't have worked otherwise.
6. Bella's Powers... Interesting... I guess I didn't have any expectations, so I was pleasantly suprised!
What do you think?
I haven't read this yet, (I have your comments covered with my hand) but as soon as I get it done I'm coming back to this post. I can't WAIT to read it. I started the whole series over last week so I could read them all consecutively. I just finished New Moon last night and believe it or not, I liked it MUCH better the second time. I wasn't so anxious for Edward to return so I was able to enjoy Jacob and Bella a little more. I LOVE these stupid books!
okay,
i finally have a minute to myself. it's been a long (but fun) day.
1. The wedding went by really fast. Almost like my wedding. It seemed like a blur. But it was perfect.
2. Totally didn't expect the pregnancy. Even when she thought it she could be prego, still didn't believe it. Thought she had food poisoning. (It probably didn't help that I was home with a sick boy because he got food poisoning the night before!)
3. Yeah, Rosalie. She always seemed like she was in the background in all the other books. I never really got to "know" her. And now, in this book, she REALLY disappointed me. I know she was shallow in her human life, but, did she really have to be so mean as a vampire?
4. Yeah, I HATED the name! I liked the middle name, Carlie. So much cuter, and easier to say.
5. I was actually happy to see that Jacob imprinted on Nessie. I mean, I only like Jacob a little bit. He always seemed to get on my nerves. He seemed like a "whiney dog." I thought he grew up a lot after he imprinted.
6. Bella's powers: it was nice to see that she had a "place" in the world. She never really fit in, you know. She was just kinda the average girl. And now she has this extraordinary gift that she can use to help protect her loved ones.
Yeah, finally someone to talk to! My sister still needs to read the book, and I haven't really talked to anyone else yet...and I finished it a week ago! :)
Okay so I just finished the book - I didn't get it until Thursday and it has been crazy..but my thoughts:
TOTALLY didn't see Bella getting pregnant. Hated Renessme as a name. What is with people trying to combine names? I had a teacher named Jackie whose husband's name is Michael so they names their daughter Mija! Really?
I thought the romance was definitely not as bad as it could have been. Definitely a mormon writing the book. I wondered how they would beat around the bush - ending the chapter and having Jasper make jokes was kind of funny.
I liked that is was a happily ever after book but at the same time it almost felt anti-climactic. I was expecting somewhat of a fight and then it just ended and everyone (minus Irana or whatever) was fine. Maybe a little more like 'Harry Potter' where some death was involved. Is that morbid of me?
Overall a good read. I am happy that Jacob imprinted, although I too expected it to be with Leah...but it couldn't be because he didn't love her the moment he saw her like it is supposed to be with imprinting. Seeing the imprint through Jacobs eyes explained the whole process a little better. And now he and Bella can FINALLY have the right kind of love for each other!
OK!!!!
so, I completely agree with everything you said in this blog. I said the same exact thing to Nicole. I just felt that the other books were so UNDER G rated and this was like OVER PG-13 rated. IDK. And I guess it did give me closure with the story but I still CRAVE more. We are seriously going to the midnight showing of twilight. and If you wanna, you should definately come with us!
YAY! I'm finally done. Like you I HATED the name Renesmee. GAG!!! I liked the book. Although, I felt like it was a little predictable. As soon as I figured out Bella was pregnant, I knew what was going to happen. I liked that it left everyone happily ever after, but my favorite book by far was the first one.
