Mr. Kortlen is now two months old!
His little personality is starting to shine through, and he is undoubtedly the best baby. He literally eats, sleeps, and poops. In the last day, he's had two terrible blowouts...bigger than both his brother's, combined!!! Funny, that the second one was in the same cleaned onesie.
I love how he sleeps with his arms above his head, and his little hands are balled up. Most of this week he's gone to bed around 8pm after feeding, and does not wake up till 5am. After an early morning feeding, he'll go back to sleep till 8 or 9, allowing me to get the boys dressed and fed. We are certainly blessed to have such a good sleeper.
When he wakes up, he gives a nice, long, arching stretch.
His facial expressions are hilarious. He loves to coo and gurgle, and is starting to blow bubbles...probably out of frustration. The other day the boys were throwing paper airplanes, and one hit Kortlen right in the side of the head. His little cry was so cute...and his face, just melted me! I cuddled and cuddled him, and it was the first time he'd really cried, hard. He very rarely cries...only if he's really hungry (which seldom happens) or his brothers are picking on him (which also seldom happens). He snorts more than any little piggy I've ever seen, and I think Ryan loses sleep over our noisy napper.
Tanner and Taylor are pretty good about leaving him alone if he's asleep on the floor or couch. About once a week they ask to hold him. Taylor is quick to say, "ewe! He's going to frow up on me!" And Tanner is a pretty good helper. I'm relieved that neither have tried to pick him up and carry him around, yet.
Kortlen loves his baths, loves to eat, loves to talk to us, and loves to watch. He's calm, and not real intense yet. He eats about ever three-four hours, and after a 20 minute feeding is good to go. I don't wince every time I have to nurse like I did with Tanner and Taylor, and haven't gotten mastitis like I did with them, either! Hooray!
Yesterday when I weighed myself and Kortlen and then just myself, he weighed in at 14 lbs. And we have a nice digital scale...so I'm thinking it's pretty close to accurate. I haven't measured how long he is, but the fact that he's already wearing 3-6 month clothes and they're crotching him out, indicates he's growing pretty well. The only lectures on weight that I get seem to be on my weight (I really only have about 25 pounds to lose to be ideal...not that bad, right?). The picture below is Kortlen on his Blessing Quilt that my mom made, in an outfit that I planned to let him wear in October...It is a 3-6 mo outfit, but is clearly just right, right now! I have washed it each night because I'm making him wear it all week, just in case it doesn't fit next week. I'm such a mean mom!
I've started doing BYU TV's Total Body Workouts, and walking. I'll drop Tanner off at Joy School and Taylor, Kortlen and I go to Community Park to walk a few miles. It's fabulous. I'm trying to eat healthy, too, but it doesn't help when Ryan brings home Ding-Dongs and Hostess Cupcakes as snacks for work. When I banned all Hostess 'treats' and told him he had to keep them at work or in his car, he hid them in our bottom drawer of the dresser...thanks sweetie. Now I can be a true closet eater.
On a happy note, Kortlen has probably seen the movie "Napoleon Dynamite" one too many times. I swear, Deb could have taken this picture. Too funny!
I love Kortlen's sweet smile, pushing his cheeks up till his eyes nearly disappear. We are so happy he's in our family!

What a precious baby! Congrats on the working out and eating better. Reading your blog helps keep me motivated, I also need to lose some weight and get back in shape. I am also jealous that your baby sleeps. Keep up the great work with your three wonderful sons.
What a cute boy!! I love those pictures. Baby are so sweet in just little white onesies, it never gets old!!
LOVE Total Body Workout!!! I do it too. I was just thinking that it's time to start up our Rose Park exercise group again. Adorable baby pictures!!
He is such a doll and yay for being such an awesome baby. It makes a world of difference. Way to go working out. I have almost zero problems working out - that part I love. But avoiding sweets - if only. I just ate a big fat caramel brownie after lunch. I made them for YW last night and I should NOT have brought home any left overs! Now I have post binging remorse. lol.
Such a darling baby! And yes, he looks like a Crandall baby!
he is SO cute. I can't believe he's 2 months already! that went by fast! {at least for me...maybe not for you!} they grow up way too fast. so glad he's a good baby--and sleeps! it makes such a HUGE difference!
I LOVE that smile! What a cutie. Sounds like he is a great baby. Maybe the third one is a charm.
