Friday night, Ryan came home from work puking his guts out, swearing it was food poisoning from some undercooked meat from dinner...okaaaay...but how come I wasn't sick, after splitting Taylor's food (he refused to eat his sloppy joe) and eating it? Plus, I'm pretty good about checking the doneness of meat...
Well, regardless, we started bumping it up to more frequent washings...after all, you can never do enough of this, right?
Between him throwing up all night (seriously, every 20 minutes) and me getting up to nurse a baby twice, and dealing with Taylor's growing pains, I got about an hour of sleep. Ryan had me beat at NO sleep, but because he was feeling better, we headed to his family reunion at his parent's house Saturday Morning.
All is well. I am able to visit while the kiddos played with their cousins, and Ryan spent the day sleeping upstairs at his mom and dad's.
Sunday went well, Kortlen's blessing day was fabulous. Good food, great family, and more good food. So much, so that Tanner stood at the refreshment table and licked the frosting from the center of the lemon cake.
As everyone was leaving, Tanner ran to the bathroom, complaining that his tummy hurt, and emptied all the delicious frosting into the toilet. The mysterious 'undercooked meat' was no longer mysterious. Ryan had the flu, and now Tanner had it. And had probably contaminated everyone else with it as well.
Kudos to the boy, though, for making it to the bathroom every time he had to puke, and only puking four times, thus resulting in my only having to clean the bathroom four times. I pulled out the clorox wipes and extra toilet paper so Tanner could clean up the small stuff, but I kept the Lysol and bucket pretty close by, too.
Monday we were all good. (I was begining to think it was food poisoning after all, because Taylor and I were not feelin' it...)
But then that would have been too easy.
Tuesday morning, I was awakened by some foul smelling sticky stuff on my arm, dripping down my leg, and come to find out, all down the side of my bed and on a basket of clean clothes waiting to be folded by my bed, not to mention my bra that I had so carelessly thrown on the basket of said clothes...because I had errands to run first thing and I had my clothes set out, ready to wear.
Too bad, because Taylor now had the flu. He was stealth in puking (no noise, no food particles, just icky, green stomach acid.), but just couldn't let his body do it's thing. It took him ALL DAY LONG to get rid of the bug. I swear, I cleaned the bathroom up after my baby at least 15 times.
Which is why I had to get this picture, because I felt so bad for my baby, and toilet was practically clean enough to eat from. I think if I would have left him alone, he would have fallen asleep...he stood like this for a good ten minutes. Poor kid.
Because I spent three days washing sheets, towels and EVERY BLANKET we own, we didn't run errands, and I wasn't much for going out and about. While I made a make-shift bed in the bathroom for his little brother, Tanner busied himself with making a necklace and sorting all the remaining beads. He's got some skills! I wonder if an abacus would help him learn to count to ten...I'd be willing to give up my beloved scouting beads to such a cause....
Alas, I escaped the yucky germs being passed around, but just you wait. Next week I'll have mastitis or something awful like that.

Okay, so I swear there is mom flu going around. We've had it at our house too, every single person EXCEPT me got it. My friends in Rexburg....same thing. AND my friends in Iona...same thing. I sure hope it misses you too!
Wow. What is up with the flu this year. Hannah had it also I cleaned my whole literally entire house with bleach and no one else got it. But seriously kind of scary. Poor kid the picture of him over the toilet is so sad! That is exactly how Hannah looked. Hurray for them being old enough to make it to the toilet. That is almost better then potty training...almost!? Congratulations on Kortlens Baby blessing what a special day!!
We all knew that it wasn't food poisoning, Deanna! We're moms...its our job to know! And I think Taylor leaning over the toilet is sooo cute! Its sad of course, but I am so amazed that he does that! Way to go Taylor in helping mommy out a little!
No. Fun. No fun at all. I am glad everyone is feeling better. For now. And hopefully for a LONG time!
We had the same thing too! Except we were on vacation at Bear Lake when Sadie got sick...and then everyone else took a turn with it too. It was a nasty bug!! I'm glad that you're all feeling better, and that you escaped being sick. I can't remember feeling that awful in a long time....
