Wednesday Night Project

I need a red chair for a wedding photo shoot I'm doing this weekend.

So tonight I'm doing what any amateur, last minute photographer would do. I'm making one!

This is my project for the night...

and these are the colors...

I painted it black first, then I'm playing it safe by painting over that with red and have plans to distress it a bit....

And this is how it stands at midnight...still needing a clear coat and some distressing...I think! :)

I will probably decide on the distressing when I pick out fabric tomorrow...

Either way, in between photo shoots, I think I found a new home for this old chair!

I know it looks a bit pink in the light, but that's because the paint was still wet...it actually dries the same color as the frame above it...which works out perfectly!!! Wahoo!!!

__________

What do ya'all think?
sand the edges?
distress random areas?
paint it black again?

Where'd you get the chair? I want several different colored wooden chairs around my kitchen table.

me, too! but this one I got from a co-worker for free when I told her I was going to an antique store to look for one. i had to sand it down a bit, but it was pretty weathered from being outside for years. :)

When in the heck do you sleep??? I'm totally awed by all that you can accomplish in just a day. That chair looks flippin' sweet. I think you should leave it there under those stars after you get done with the wedding. It looks good there (at least it does in your photo).

I would sand random edges then stain them a darkish color. But definitely leave it red! I love it!

Love the red, but agree with Elena, it needs to be distressed just a bit more ;) it is a really cute chair though!!!

LOVE IT!! I would distress it more. You don't want it to look to perfect. Love the color choice. You get a gold star!

Your just lucky those boys didn't get their hands in the paint! Tanner has been known to wake up in the night and wander...

fun, huh? I love painting things! :) I'm excited to see it finished. -- Sand it to get the black to show through . . . otherwise, you could try dry-brushing some of the black in random places . . . it looks good.
