We were on our way to the park and called our friends to join us, but they persuaded us to join them instead!
While we were waiting for our friends to show up, there was an actual fire call...and we got to watch two firemen get their gear on and leave in one of the big yellow trucks (for you firemens' wives (ahem, Kate) is there a reason for different colored fire engines???) Tanner declared he wanted to be a fireman. He thought it was so cool!
We had so much fun looking at the fire engines...
...participating in a simulation fire drill...like 15 times, seriously...
...putting out fires...
...and driving the fire truck, of course!
Along with the 49 pamphlets and goodies I picked up for our next FHE, the boys got cookies and juice. Just what we needed for dinner!
We had lots of fun trying on the gear...
Apparently we have a foot or two to grow before it will fit properly.
What a fun day we've had! A trip to the library, no naps, another outing to Fire Station No. 5, and waiting up for daddy to put us to bed.
***Needless to say, within the thirty minutes of getting home, both stickers are trashed and both hats are smashed beyond recognition. Go figure!***

What fun!! I've never taken my kids to do that. Can you just walk in and say I want my kids to see the trucks?
it was an open house thing...and and educational open-to the public deal...just call and ask! I bet they have a certain day or time you could take your kids!
What a fun thing! We just went with Hannah's pre school but there were so many kids we didn't get to do all that cool stuff you guys did. I bet your boys loved it!
way fun! way fun-ner than when we go see ben at his station. :)
btw, i asked ben why some fire engines are yellow. his response? the can be any color the city decides on....pretty much they just need to "stand" out.
It was me that made R2D2.

Just take a white, roll-top garbage can and paint it accordingly. the legs are made out of . . . oh good grief, this could take a while to explain. Why don't you give your friend my phone number and we can set up a time to have her come take a look at it --- or maybe she could borrow it . . . we'll see. :) I'll be out of town next week, but if she's around this weekend, she could come over - or after we get back. It was a lot of work, but so fun! And I now have lots and lots of tips of what NOT to do. :)
Thanks for being persuaded to come with us; it is always more fun with friends :).
My boys would've loved to do that! Fun! Hey, and I also just made that very same Zucchini Cake recipe last week. I also especially love the topping. And I also think my baby didn't love it. ;) Oh, and that's fun about your sister. Kennewick is only 3 hours from here. Anytime you want to visit her, just come stay with us! ;)
