Trying again...

My mom drove up on Tuesday with our tree tied to the roof of her car, in negative 15*F temperatures.  No biggie...we got the tree right in the house...

...we started with a beautiful Charlie Brown tree, decorated to the nines, and enjoyed by everyone!  Thanks to my dad for getting it for us!

...we decorated it...

...loved on it...watered it...vacuumed up the few needles after decorating it...

...and just kept vacuuming...

by day two, I noticed the lovely green was a bit yellow...like REALLY yellow, but kinda black, so I gave it more water...

...and every time the kids breathed on it, a branch full of needles would fall on the ground!

As I was cleaning in preparation for visitors Saturday, I literally sat on the floor, tapping branches, making the needles fall so I could vacuum once and be done.

By Sunday, I decided to move on, and try again.

I sent Ryan to Rexburg to get his mom's fake tree this afternoon.  I despise fake trees, just so you know...but I think I might like this one!  Thank you, Mr. Rogers and PicturePicture for entertaining my boys after dinner, so I could set up yet another tree.  Seriously...three parts, branches on hinges, so they just 'fall' out after 'fluffing'.  I just need 17 more strands of lights!

We are now ready to celebrate in style again.

I used to hate fake trees too until Anthony talked me into trying one and it has been so nice! The lights are already on it so all we have to do is put it together in three pieces and done! Definately has its perks!

LOVE your header picture! So stinkin' cute. Sorry bout the Christmas tree! Sadly, we've joined the fake tree group. So much simpler and the branches are even and the lights are already on it! Maybe someday you'll join in willingly! LOL! XOXO

just get a candle that smells like "christmas tree." you'll be so thankful you aren't vacuuming up needles every.day! i know i am! :)
on a side note, my friend ended up putting up 2 christmas trees....the first one was fake and her 18month old son DESTROYED it within hours of putting it up, and now they have a real one, that hasn't been destroyed...yet! ha!

Same thing has happened to me before! :) Except I didn't get a fake one, I just kept vacuuming and our tree was bare. Read entries from Dec '07 - '08. Every year. However, last year, we went and cut our own and we've done the same this year and so far, we've had success. Glad that you're enjoying it so far. - and I think you have plenty of lights. It looks very happy!

I'm glad you did this. I've been worried about your dead one catching fire!
