Do I really need to start filling my brain with all the back-to-school deals and thinking about all the 'stuff' I must send my 5 year old to school with? Already????? *sigh* As I remember it, the only thing I went with on my first day of Kindergarten was a new box of crayons in my backpack and my new pink oxford shoes complete with a lace-collar'd white shirt and a pink jumper.
Ryan got an award at work: One Year with the Company. Wanna know what they got for him??? It's totally rad:
Yeah. I know. You want one, too, don't you! Well, we have two more kicking around somewhere...they're a dime a dozen. On a non-sarcastic note, we're glad to have an income. Not real excited about the job itself, but a job is a job.
Preparations are underway for a little boy's big day! I called and ordered our 'free' cake from Albertson's...can't decide if I want to use it for a photo shoot or the 'get-together'.
And I finished a little project I've had for a while. A steal of a deal found at the D.I. for only $6...and I think it's from Pottery Barn...it's weighs more than my bike. Honest. I had to put a new coat of chalkboard paint on it, and then used a white paintpen to put lines for writing. I love it. While the kids were watching Team Umi-Zoomi on the computer, I was drawing with chalk. For almost an hour. It was great! I think I need to add "colored chalk" to the school supply list. Because I used it all up.

Wow! That first year sure goes by quickly. Your camping trip sure looked like lots of fun. Love all of the cute projects you make.
Do you get to buy school supplies? My 5-yr-olds school has us pay a fee and they provide all the supplies. I was soooo sad when I found out. That was the only thing I was looking forward to with sending my first off to Kindergarten this year. Oh well.
I don't get to buy supplies either...sigh but oh the relief as well!!
Having talked to a lot of teachers, it would be considerably easier to have the children pay because usually teachers have massive amounts of leftover from previous years. Then teachers could use any excess to buy things parents could not or would not get, like specialty paints and such from teacher supply wholesales.
I'm not looking forward to school either. We've spent the first five years of L's life doing whatever we feel like doings and I'm not super excited about the school telling us when he's available to play with his family. Oh well, if I dislike it enough I can always homeschool, I guess. Why can't they just stay little?
Consider yourself lucky that your kindergartner only has to go half day. Lily got full day kindergarten {aka day care for working parents} I really should have kept her home and continued to teach her. She actually regressed in what she knew from me teaching her. She loved school though so I guess that is what is important.
I can't wait to see your b-day decorations for your little one!
I cannot believe you have a child already old enough to start school! You are not old enough for that yet!
