Any suggestions for vacationing in or near San Diego now being taken...any good places to stay at a reasonable rate? What MUST we see? Tanner will be almost three, and Taylor will be about 9 months...Double stroller a must? Should we skip Disney and just head to the San Diego Zoo? Maybe a handcart trek to Cali, since the gas prices are so ridiculous?! Guess I'd better get packing, cause it's going to take a while for this little walk!

Oh my gosh that is so exciting she is absolutely adorable. Way to go Keith !! You guys are going to love San Diego especially if you have never been. We loved Sea World!! Parker was 3 also when we went. We spent a ton of time just hanging out at the beach!! We did not do the Zoo but if I could do it over again I would definitely have gone! Hope you guys have a blast. You will never want to leave San Diego the weather is amazing!!
SOOOOO fun!! We LOVE it down there. I am jealous that you get to go. You should make a jaunt over and have Ryan give you a mission tour. We love to see the places JArom lived. We also love just hanging at the beach, but the zoos and Sea World are all great. I'd skip Disney if it were me since your kids are so young, but they'd still love it if you want to go. The zoo is HUGE and very hilly, stroller would be a must. The Wild Animal Park is really fun too and not so hilly. We love to eat at In-N-Out and Oscars (breadsticks and salad delish). Oh, I am so excited for you to go and take TONS of pictures since I don't think we're going to be able to make the handcart trek this year.
I would try the trek thing! (HAHAHAHA). Seriously though, since Russ lived in Cali I asked his opinion. He strongly suggested skipping Disneyland. Long lines with that young of kids does not equal fun. He said the Zoo is a must as long as Tanner has some interest in animals. He also suggested Sea World. I recommend a double stroller, which you can probably rent at both places if you don't own one. Or maybe this gives you a reason to buy one ;) Hit the beach, Tanner would love the ocean. Taylor probably wouldn't mind it either. Hope you have fun, and take LOTS of sunscreen. It is still scorching hot in August there!

Yeah - we are waaaay excited!!! Ryan served in San Diegeo/Carlsbad, and so we're thinking of going 'sight seeing' for a bit. We're definately skipping DisneyLand, though my mom is dead-set on taking the rest of the family. Tanner LOVES animals and especially fish. I think we'll definately do Sea World and the beach, and maybe the Zoo. Still haven't decided if I need a reason to buy the double stroller - if it's worth it, because it can be rented...not sure we have room, either. :)
We took Andrew to Disneyland after he just turned one and we had a blast! We were with some friends who would watch him, while we used a fast pass they give you if you have small children and we'd take turns. He did fine but it may be hard with a 9 month old especially if you are nursing. Tanner would probably love it but your youngest might not like it at all :) I'd definitely go to Sea World and the zoo. I think you can get a package deal when buying the two together. It's like a two day pass. Hopefully that makes sense?! Anyways...sounds fun! Good luck deciding!
Skip Disney until your kids are older... We're excited for Keith and Trisha too and planning the trek as well...although we haven't decided which wagon to take! :)
Sounds like fun! I don't know much about the San Diego area...put I know where you could make a pit stop in the Vegas areas...I'll make cookies, or lunch if you want!
Sea World a must (although hit it as soon as it opens to avoid lines).
Double stroller is a must.
Skip Disneyland, you don't even like it, so why go through all the torture of lines with young kids?!?
