Weeks ago I consented to go to the midnight showing of "New Moon". And if you don't know what that is by now, you can click HERE for more information.
I'll be honest; I liked the books. Could have done without all the intimacy in them, but they had an interesting story line.
I never saw "Twilight" in theaters, but rented it from Redbox. I laughed through it the first time, and sewed through it the second. Mweehhh. Whatever.
This go around, Ryan thought the trailers looked really good, and wanted to go see it. I tried to let him go in my place, but 'all the girls' said it was 'girls only', so he graciously stayed home with the kids Thursday night and shoved me out the door, and lovingly told me, "Enjoy yourself. You need a break. Who knows? Maybe you'll have a good time." I had worked a nine hour day, and all I wanted to do was go to bed early. I was kindof cranky, come to think of it!
I wasn't convinced until I got in the car, and I kinda was excited to get to experience the whole 'middle-aged-movie-going-mamas' screaming and fighting and laughing and oohing and ahhing.
I went prepared to stand in the cold for hours. Heavy blanket. Chair. Cheeseball and Crackers. Hand warmers. Long underwear. Three shirts. Puffy coat. Mittens with the fold-back fingers so I could snack warmly.
When I arrived, I announced that the party could start because I had a cheeseball and crackers (in a huge container). Everyone just stared. This is the part where I started to feel dumber that I already did (because I was invited by a friend of a friend, and didn't know anybody...as the night wore on, there were six of the twenty-one that I knew, but still.) Apparently we were supposed to bring snacks to share INSIDE the theater. Ohhhhh. Oops.
After only forty minutes of jumping and waiting and freezing and shivering, our theater was called, we were allowed inside, single file, and orderly. YEAH RIGHT! Can I just say it was my proudest moment to RUN to Theater 6 to get the middle three rows of seven seats. I was bringing up the rear...and didn't have to sacrifice any body parts to get the seats we agreed on. It was weird and felt giddy and looked hilarious! Needless to say, we made it inside safe and sound, crackers, cheeseball and blankets and coats and all without loosing a limb.
I seriously wouldn't have felt bad about taking a two hour nap at that point, but there was so much good company and good food, that my tired and sleepy eyes were compelled to stay open and be social.
It's impossible to describe the noise that erupted when the movie started. I looked at my cell phone, "12:01" and I suddenly realized that I had been enjoying myself, and I prayed this would not end up being a test of my patience.
I wont spoil it for anyone wanting to maybe see it in the future, but I will say this. My favorite part was during every romantic, sad, happy, fun, awkward and rediculous scene, the reactions of the twi-hards were priceless. Definitely worth my $11. The oohs, and ahhs, and ohhhhhs and rarrrrs of the 'middle-aged-movie-going-mamas' was hilarious.
**Thanks Sara for the pictures. :)

Ha Ha! I am glad you had a great time! We went at 9 and that was totally how it was for us too! I loved that show! Hopefully you are "converted" now!
haha, i loved listening to the twihards also...however, i went to a pre-screaning at 5 so it wasn't as entertaining that way as was the midnight showing when i went to twilight. i loved it though...mmm jacob
really the best part was your HUGE container of cheese and crackers. :) So glad you went. ;)
hahaha, you are hilarious! i am going tonight, and now i can't wait to see peoples' reactions (though i'll probably be just as bad as the rest....but i'll try to control myself :).
LOL! Loved reading your post! We had a blast at our showing! That's what made it the best...everyone enjoying the "scenery." For the record...I'm still Team Edward! The hot cold one! mmmmmmm!
Okay, I'm starting to regret not going this weekend. All the screams and oohs and aahs are the best part! So glad you had fun! Cheeseball and all. (That is hilairous!)
I went on Saturday and still got to experience all the middle aged womens oohs and aaawes. lol. Too funny. Though I am quite grateful for the reserved seating. Although waiting ans running is fun - so is showing up 2 minutes before the movie starts ;)
I went to see the movie on Saturday, and it was so much better then the first. One of my favorite parts was also those die hard fans that squealed and oohed and aawed. When Jacob took off his shirt the first time I had to laugh out loud. The row infront of us was so funny.
I loved that you went to see New Moon! We missed having you hang out in our group! I must tell you how many people have commented on how awesome your pictures are! They loved it! and I mean LOVED IT!!! I have never had so many wonderful comments on photos or photos of me that i like and I LOVE LOVE Love these so thank you thank you thank you! YOU are by far the BEST EVER!
hahaha. Great description...I teach jr high and see this every day. In fact, I had to call my students back to attention today because they were obsessively talking about "Jacobs" eight pack and "Edwards" painted eight pack (yes...even the boys!). Lol.
Now Deanna...I would hardly call any of us "middle aged"!! Anyway, I am glad you had fun...I expect to hear much less griping and moaning when we go to the third on in June!! :)
Too funny, Deanna. Loved this post. My daughter was one of those crazies out there. The house didn't get put to bed until 3:30 am that night. Yep, we made her go to school the next day.
Heh, heh. (evil chuckle)
