Since I couldn't get my act together for Christmas, I thought I'd put a bit more effort into Valentine's Day.
For as long as I can remember, my mom has made sugar cookies, cut out in the shape of a heart, frosted with yummy pink frosting, with conversation hearts preventing stacked cookies from sticking together. They were and still are, my favorite. But I really wanted to try something new...
Soon after Christmas I found a fun tutorial on making Valentine's Day suckers, quick and easy. I've never made suckers of ANY kind before, and thought this would be such a fun little activity for me and the boys to do together...
Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhhhh....
After reading through and going over the SIMPLE directions, I reconsidered my game-plan....
Do the dishes while Ryan puts the kids down, and THEN start this little project.
So these are my finished products...
There are only about 18, nearly 6 less than I had anticipated, due to breakage before cooking.
Not exactly the way I thought they would turn out, but then, what can I say. I tried! At least I was smart enough to find the fruit flavored candy canes.
Can't hardly wait to give my monster suckers to my lovely little monsters. :) As for next year? I think I'll pull out the flour and Bosch mixer, along with some conversation hearts and cream cheese for frosting. Old habits die hard.
