Happy Keesters

I thought this would bring a smile to your face...Now taking potty-training tips, tricks, or logic for little boys...

Tanner desperately wants to be a big boy, yet his mommy isn't the most patient potty trainer - maybe i just need to get real, and realize that it needs to be his idea...again...(long story).

I'm ready to only need to buy ONE size of diapers...Yesterday and on Saturday Tanner (size 5) had to wear Taylor's (size 3) because I thought I had grabbed him some, yet, once again, I failed to stop long enough to hold the two diapers next to each other and be sure one was bigger than the other...I really don't want to write their names on each diaper. I thought I could do initials, but we weren't smart parents...T & T - DUH! Big "T" and little "t"? I don't know...so now I'm ready for your wonderful ideas!!!

I think you should read "Toilet Training in Less Than a Day". http://www.allbookstores.com/book/compare/0671693808 I really like it. It's a bit of a different approach to potty training than most people take right. It's much more positive. You focus on the success of having dry pants. Also the author don't think that you have to wait until your child is "ready". I didn't follow everything exactly, but all the same Trey was potty training within a week. Best of luck!

Sounds like you have a child like mine. The forever potty trainer. I've come to the decison that one day this will click for Lily, just like everything else. Between now and that day, there are going to be many tears. Both mine and Lily's. But if I keep reminding myself that it will be over soon I get through it. Just don't get discouraged, and don't stop if Tanner says he's ready. Those two things can set you back MONTHS. The diaper thing. Pack your diaper bag the day before. Put way more diapers in than you think you will use. Double check it before you leave. Hopefully that way Tanner won't have to wear anymore threes. Good luck!

Yeah, I wish I could say that Parker was potty trained, but like you, I'm not patient enough. I tell him if he doesn't want to go in the potty, he has to wear diapers. he says, okay, so i put a diaper on him. Maybe in a couple of weeks I will really try. Plus, my sister mentioned the whole "toilet training in less than a day" and she said it works. so, that sounds like a good idea.

about the boys wearing the same size of diapers, granted, it is nice to only worry about one size. (preston and parker have both been wearing size 5 for the past year almost. not joke! preston was HUGE!) but...the thing is, they get more expensive the bigger the size. same price for the box, but less come in a box. so, it really isn't SUCH a bad thing. and diapers are so dang expensive!

What worked wonder's for my nephew, and will be tried on Belle when she's ready, is an old but great book called "Toilet training in less than a day" by Nathan Arzin and Richard Foxx (both dr's). Her son was literally potty trained in less than a day, and has never had an accident since. I hope you find something that works for your family!

Good luck. I'm working on it myself. Some days, anyways. Lately, he's been a bit non-complacent with the whole thing. Which reminds me, I ought to get going again. Good luck!

First of all, you are doing really well potty training him at this age. Carson trained at 2 1/2 and I always had people stopping me to ask how I did it. The truth is that it was Carson's accomplishment, not mine. I just saw the signs and encouraged him. Then, when I thought we were both ready, I decided one day no more diapers. It was rough with lots of accidents, but then one day it clicked for him. Everything I've read says that its a natural process you can't force to come in one day or even one week. Each child learns differently. The important part is that you as a mom pick up on his readiness signals and provide the proper help, then he'll do the rest. Its his accomplishment, not yours-that was hard for me to learn!
