1998 - Wow. A year of change. I was a Freshman in High School, and really awkward. I was on the swimteam, and went to state and placed in the top three - I even beat out a BYU swimmer. I did modern dance at BYU and woke up at 5:30 to practice the piano for an hour each day...This was the year that my dad broke to us that we were moving. The deal on a Ranch in Three Creek fell through - someone bought it hours before my dad signed on it. It was almost a blessing, becasue we would have been attending school in a one room school house - no joke. It broke his heart. As a family we were tight, but what we didin't realize was that we were going to get a lot closer and have to rely on each other a lot more in the comming years. As it ended, the following summer we moved to the Bancroft/Chesterfield area - where my class size was like 19 - and it was one of the bigger classes. (For those interested, 10 years ago Ryan was attending Ricks college, dating weird finiky girls...I had no idea what I was up against! (just kidding)) The picture below is the youngest one I have of me - taken 2002 right after I chopped my long, curly hair.

5 things on my to do list today:
1. Clean up (shower, wash my hair, dress in actual clothes, not exercise/sweat/pjs)
2. Laundry
3. Prepare Singing Time - maybe
4. Play with the boys
5. Kiss my Hubby good-bye at 8:30am....and...make sure the house is picked up for him when he returns after work and class at 10:30. This is always the hardest one. Don't know why. (The picking up part...)
If I were suddenly a billionaire:
1. Can you pay tithing on winnings like that? If so, I would.
2. Buy us a house.
3. Buy a Steinway to put in the house, and one for my parents, too.
4. Pay off any debts - not that there's that much, but I guess anyone close to me would get a nice check to do the same. : )
5. Pay for my children's college education.
3 bad habits:
1. I bite my fingernails. Always have, always will.
2. I stay on the computer way too long, way too much.
3. I let my dishes pile up while I 'wander' wondering what I can do...ridiculous, I know, but the truth hurts!
5 places I have lived:
1. Born and 'raised' in Springville, Utah untill I was 15 years old.
2. Moved to Bancroft, Idaho (for a year) then moved to Chesterfield on the ranch (we had to wait until our house was built).
3. Smithfield, Utah, working before I went to college.
4. Rexburg, Idaho while I attended BYU-I.
5. Idaho Falls, Idaho, because it was an easy move to do my student teaching, and Ryan's job was in I.F.
5 jobs I have had:
1. Unloading the dishwasher
2. Helping with my little brothers and sisters.
wait - you meant SERIOUS, real jobs?
3. Helping out on the ranch.
4. Working at Valley Wide Co-op pumping gas and loading feed.
5. Porter's Craft and Frame - Floral, Fabrics, Crafts, Framing and Scrapbooking. My favorite was the frame department...There was just something about designing, assembling and working with art that way. I loved it!
I would have listed teaching at Hillcrest H.S., but I didn't get paid for my student teaching...shucks!
6. Wife, mother, and Homemaker. The biggest and best'est' job I've ever had, because the long hours and long days are compensated with love (usually). :)
5 things people don't know about me:
1. I am 8 years and 10 months younger than my sweetheart, and hubby, Ryan. No, there is nothing wrong with him, and no I'm not psychotic.
2. My mom put me in piano lessons when I was three years old - I learned to play by ear and faked my teachers thinking I could read the music until I was about 11 or so. I love to play by ear, and still have to work at sight reading - however it's getting better.
3. To bring in a few extra bucks to help in my poor spending habits department, I teach piano lessons. I have 10 students, and some days I wish I didn't have any! I love music, but I wish my students would practice. Practice!!! - so I didn't feel like I had to 'endure' lessons every day.
4. In high school I was salutatorian (second in my class) but almost didn't graduate period...long story...some other time. Basically I quit doing my English 101 class through ISU (along with some other class members) and the teacher contacted our superintendant the day of graduation and that put a halt on things...I've never written a 6 page paper so fast in my life. One Hour. I don't even remember what it was on, but it was obviously what the professor wanted, because she gave me a C-. Enought to graduate, and my lowest grade ever. Otherwise, I would have graduated with a 4.0.
5. My two front teeth are porcelin. Yup. When I was nine, my cousin and I were fighting over a croquet mallet and he let go - Looser! and it hit my front tooth and broke it off. We rushed to our dad's cousin's dental office (at like 9:00 at night) and he glued my tooth back. It did great for a few years, but sometimes broken things need to be fixed! When I was 18, the tooth died, and instead of getting one tooth, my dentist suggested I get both as caps, that way they would match. I was game for my teeth matching, so he drilled them down and I looked like Sloth on Goonies - until the caps were put on. Freekish, but sweet. Now I have two teeth that match. What a girl always wants, right?
I tag anyone who wants to do this.

I'm not sure what happened but I tried leaving a comment earlier but anyways...here goes again! It was so interesting to read your tag! I didn't know your husband was so much older but he doesn't look like that, I mean he has hair :) Also it cracks me up that you broke your teeth, well only because when I was in 5th grade I did the exact same thing! I have two porcelain front teeth to prove it! While in PE one day, we were playing HORSE and I got out so I went and was jumping on this contraption that had metal bars with a big tire tube around the bottom and I decided to do a flip (I had done them many times before and been just fine BUT we weren't supposed to do that oops!!) So as I was in the process of turning I accidentally let go of the bars and couldn't grab back on and so I face planted right into the gym floor! OUCH! I even left teeth scratch marks and looked like a vampire! It was not a fun experience or time in my life! I got a lot of unwanted attention! CRAZY!!!
Hi Deanna! I love hearing from you. I'm sorry, everytime I tried to get to your blog it was blocking me for some reason. I finally got in! Your blog is way cute! We are enjoying Iowa and can't believe Steve is almost done with his first year! (4more to go!!)
Amber - that is hilarious!!!! Seriously, were we twins separated at birth or something?
Nicole - so glad you could finally get in!!! I'm going private, hopefully at the end of hte month, could I get you're email address? email me at rdpoulsen@gmail.com
Have a good one!
Alright, so I SOO remember almost not graduating! WHAT WERE WE THINKING? It makes me laugh, almost cry, and pretty much shake my head at the thought of that last week of school! I thought my parents were going to kill me. Actually, I remember thinking it would probably be better that way then not graduate! Funny funny times!
I loved your tag!! I didn't know alot of things about your family. I had no idea that you guys had a ranch in Chesterfield. Now would be a good time to apologize for being so selfish! Love the tooth story! Sounds painful. I wish you had a pic of your teeth drilled down!!! Im giggling out loud!! Your husband doesn't look his age at all!!
Kate - You were there - in the computer lab as I remember, typing with me...amongst some others. I totally agree with you. Wow.
Sherydon - we need to get together some time and chit chat. The whole reason we moved to Chesterfield was because of the ranch. Yup. I wish I had a picture, too! I remember looking in the mirror, and laughing so hard I started bawling, it scared the Dentist. He felt so bad for handing me the mirror! Funny times!
Hey Deanna, When you turn your blog into invitation only will you please put me on your list that would be great. I had no idea you had two fake teeth. Pretty funny!! Cute Tag, way fun to read

Rachel - I'm glad you didn't know, because that means that they look real!!!! I will definately include you! I wouldn't leave you out, Cuz! (funny how we're not really cousins, but we are.?.?.?)
Funny, I do the same thing with the dishes. My email is sarajbirch@hotmail.com.
I can usually tell when people have fake teeth because my dad is an orthodontist and I ALWAYS observe teeth. I guess your dentist did a pretty good job because I never noticed!
Oh, and that post made me laugh. And it hurts to laugh right now so stop it!! :)
Alright, I want the story on the English teacher! Details! Next post, maybe?
Thanks again for watching Lily! I hope your sisters pics went well without you! Also wanted to let you know that I enjoyed chatting with you and Stevie. We'll have to get together again sometime!
~Jewelle
